Writing a Term Paper Outline
A term paper is a research paper written for an academic term by students over an academic period and forming a large part of a passing score. The word term comes from the word “term”. The author of the term papers (who is also the author the research results) starts by explaining his or her background and the research results that support the argument he is trying to present. Then, there should be an overview or analysis of the research findings.
Finally there is a brief summary of the thesis statement(s). It should start with the thesis statement and end with a brief critique or interpretation (if applicable). Sometimes the thesis statement is the entire text. Sometimes, it is a shorter preamble to the thesis statement. The thesis statement will be included in the introduction and the conclusion paragraphs of each chapter.
Now that we understand the importance of this introduction to term papers let’s look at the things that should be included into it. First, ensure you have a clear introduction. Some people use incorrect fonts or write their names in all caps, or even have irregular spacing between words. These are all errors that can affect the quality of the paper and make it difficult to read for the readers you have assigned. This is especially true if the paper is going to be read by others (e.g., graduate students, employers). If you are required to break from the norm, make sure to edit your introduction accordingly.
The next step is to add an Introduction to the body of your term paper. You should not want your introduction to be too broad or the reader may get bored before they can get to the heart of your piece. Instead you should be able to make the reader feel a part of your body to help them comprehend the main aspects of your work.
The final step is to write your conclusion. A good conclusion will wrap up any loose ends that you left and provide your audience an overview (or explanation) of your argument.
